Esther Schatte // CPM, LM
Esther Schatte is from Texas and the fifth of seven children. She and four of her siblings were born at home with a midwife, so the concept of midwifery was always familiar to her. Growing up, Esther often considered midwifery as something she might pursue one day. Esther spent time doing missions in both the US and in Asia. While Esther was in Asia, she had the opportunity to volunteer in a girl’s home for street children. This awakened in Esther the desire to provide both medical and spiritual care to under privileged women.
Through a series of open doors, Esther was able to start her academic midwifery education through Association of Texas Midwives Midwifery Training Program (ATMMTP) in June 2016 and completed her clinical apprenticeship with Family Birth Services in Grand Prairie, TX, in 2020.
Esther’s ultimate goal is to use midwifery as a tool in reaching out to women. She desires to serve them through education on the normal birth processes while providing quality and compassionate care. In her free time, Esther enjoys spending time with family and friends, crocheting, knitting, hiking, volleyball, coffee, and traveling.
Lauren Dill // IBCLC
Have you ever been met with a challenge and wondered why there was no one around to help? My first baby was born at 32 weeks and she did not latch until she was 2 months old. At the time, I was driving regularly to the next town over to see an IBCLC who was working at the hospital there and she was fabulous. She answered my questions, listened to my woes, and calmed my fears. We performed weighted feeds for many weeks and I got to know her quite well. She is the reason we were successful and part of the reason I knew working with moms and babies was for me.
My second child was born healthy and on time. I assumed, as many of us do, that breastfeeding would be a breeze. I mean, my first was the challenge of a lifetime so anything this baby threw at me, I knew I would be able to overcome…or so I thought. After his birth, I was met with unbearable pain – enough that I was ready to throw in the towel after just a few short days. His pediatrician clipped a lip tie, told me that his tongue was fine, but my pain persisted. The IBCLC who supported me with my oldest had moved away and now the closest support was an hour drive. We made the drive and we met our goals, but it was not easy. It was during this experience that I wondered why there was no one meeting this need in the community.
It was then that God answered me:
“You can meet this need.”
I took my first lactation course in fall of 2017 and I began working with mothers almost immediately as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor through WIC (Women Infants & Children). I taught classes, met one-on-one with clients, trained other professionals, and even had an intern at one time. I attended conferences and seminars; I was so blessed by my time there.
I began working with Star and Sacred Space Midwifery in early 2020. It’s an honor to walk with mothers through their breastfeeding journeys; To play a small part in one of the most vulnerable, but empowering stages of life, and to witness their triumph as they meet and exceed their infant feeding goals.
Lauren has a BA in Religious Studies from North Central College. She completed her Certified Lactation Counselor training in 2017 and received her IBCLC certification in 2020. She spends one day each week providing home visits for postpartum moms and another working at Centreville Family Dentistry assessing babies for Tethered Oral Tissues. She enjoys spending most days with her three children and husband home schooling, nature walking, and adventuring.
If you would like to schedule a home or office visit with Lauren, you may call or text (260) 348-8470.
Lauren also holds certificates in TOTS Training (Tethered Oral Tissue Specialty) as well as completion of the Oral Habilitation for the Breastfeeding/Chest-feeding dyad Master Class training.

Charis Fitzpatrick - Todd // Student Midwife
Charis is a second-year student at Mercy in Action College of Midwifery. Charis has been fascinated with birth since she was a child and knew her calling was outside of the confines of the hospital setting. In 2021, the youngest of her three children was born at home. This reignited her long standing passion! Charis desires to remove barriers to holistic health care and to facilitate accessible birth options for all women.
